A leisurely walk may be just what the doctor orders Saturday.

Allen County Regional Hospital is launching its “Walk With a Doc” campaign at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting from the ACRH front canopy.

There, participants will take an hour-long stroll with Dr. Brian Wolfe.

Walkers will proceed on a loop around the hospital grounds. The path is partially paved, so be prepared to walk along some uneven surfaces.

The monthly activity will be held the fourth Saturday of every month.

Walk With a Doc is designed to encourage healthy outdoor activity. And because walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity, organizers hope to get people to stay in motion.

The walks last about an hour. No pre-registration is needed, but walkers will be asked to sign in when they arrive.

Wolfe, who also serves on the Thrive Allen County Board of Directors will give a short talk on a health-related topic and then lead the group throughout the walk.

Children and friendly dogs (on a leash) are welcome, too.

Allen County Regional is the fifth hospital in the state to institute Walk With a Doc. Others are in Atchison, Emporia, Hays and Overland Park.
