Kirk Alan Phillips, age 56 of Humboldt, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Fort Scott, the son of Jack and Virginia (Herre) Phillips. Kirk graduated from Humboldt High School in 1981 and later graduated from Pittsburg State University with a B.A. degree in accounting.
Kirk shared 20 years of marriage with Onetta (Morris) Phillips which began on Oct. 31, 1987. He later married Valerie (Vail) Phillips in Chanute, which began Dec. 22, 2018. He was a devoted man to his Savior Jesus Christ, to his family and to his amazing friends. Some of his favorite pasttimes included watching KU basketball with his kids, watching Humboldt sporting events and continuing reunions as the Humboldt Swat Team with his friends. He most of all loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an active member of Blessed Hope Bible Baptist Church in Chanute.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Valerie Phillips, of the home; children Chad Phillips and wife Terri of Nevada, Mo., Christa McGee and husband Bob of Chanute, Megan Phillips and fiancé T.J. Thompson of Chanute, Mariah Phillips and fiancé Cory Houck of Independence, Gemma Salas of the home, Oliver Salas of the home, Brodey Salas of the home; first wife Onetta Phillips; sister Karen Stout and grandchildren Adrianna, Averie, Connor, Brayden, Natalia, Camden, Mason and one more on the way.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Beverly Ramsey and Sherry Yoke.
A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, at Blessed Hope Bible Baptist Church in Chanute. Funeral service will follow at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
