R. Leon Morrow, 89, lifetime Iola resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
He was born March 25, 1921, in Iola, to Joseph Kenneth and Bernice Marie (Goodner) Morrow.
On Dec. 21, 1940, he married Inez E. Matney in Iola where they made their home. She died July 8, 1982.
He worked as a route salesman for Iola Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 27 years. He then worked 15 years for Singer’s IGA and finally drove a bus for USD 257 for 14 years before he retired.
On Sept. 17, 1983, he married Forestine Powell Farling in Iola. She died Jan. 21, 2006.
On April 1, 1951, he was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1953, he was ordained into the ministry in which he remained until his death.
He is survived by a son, Howard and his wife, Glenna, Overland Park; two daughters, Sheila Brown-Wintrode and her husband, Richard, Grove, Okla., and Judy Lind, Gridley; a stepdaughter, LaJune Bodenhammer, Garnett; five grandchildren, Cary Brown, Kimberly Morrow, Curt Lind, Casey Brown and Jeremy Lind; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
An infant son, Steven Wayne, two brothers, Marion “Bud” Zilliox and Milton Zilliox, and three sisters, Marguerite Todd, Louise Sloan and Wanda Adams, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola. Elder Gary Murphey will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
