Virginia Mae Bradford Stone, 94, of Rural Buffalo died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1917, in rural Earlton, to Walter and Marie (Wiltse) Bradford. She attended Thornburg School, east of Earlton.
On Feb. 19, 1936, she married Carl Stone in Independence. In 1949, they moved to a farm in the High Prairie Community of Wilson County. He died on Aug. 23, 2004.
She was a homemaker. She was an active member of High Prairie United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed United Methodist Women. She liked to quilt and embroidery and made a beautiful quilt for each grandchild for their high school graduation.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Warren, Belleville, Ill.; two sons, Jim, Iola, and Bob, Fairview, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Bradford, Altoona; and two sisters, Bonnie Ladd, Humboldt, and Bernice Johnson, Chanute.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Erickson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at High Prairie Methodist Church in rural Altoona. Burial will be in High Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.
