The home confines were rather unfriendly for Allen Community College’s softball team Tuesday.

The Red Devils dropped both games of a doubleheader, 9-1 and 7-0, to visiting Des Moines Area Community College.

Allen was limited to one hit in the opener, Hailee Lundine’s solo home run in the bottom of the second, to even the score at 1-1.

But Des Moines busted through with a seven-run fourth to take control.

Madelynn Collins took the loss, surrendering seven hits with two strikeouts. Chloe Rogers came on in relief, allowing three hits and no earned runs.

Des Moines led 1-0 after the first inning of the finale and 3-0 after three. A four-run sixth sealed the deal for the Bears.

Allen, conversely, was held without a hit until Lundine and Brown both had singles in the bottom of the seventh. But a strikeout ended the rally.

Skyler Jackson pitched, allowing 13 hits with a strikeout; Makayla McGinnis added a hitless, scoreless inning of relief.

Allen (5-9) is back in action Thursday at home against Johnson County.
