The Humboldt Lady Cubs battled the Cherryvale Lady Chargers for third place in the War on 54 basketball tournament, but the results from the contest were not available at press time.
The Cubs made it to the third place game after opening with a victory over the 3A Anderson County Bulldogs of the Pioneer League but fell to the Eureka Tornados 57-37 Tuesday night. With the loss, the Lady Cubs dropped to 4-8 overall. They return to the hardwood Tuesday, when they host the Anderson County Bulldogs.
Over in Buffalo, Southern Coffey County’s boys and girls continue playing for their first win of the season in the Captain Milburn Memorial Basketball Tournament at Altoona-Midway High School. The boys fell to Altoona-Midway 42-31 while the girls fell 37-21. Both programs wrapped up the tournament against Yates Center-based Liberty Home School Alliance.
Results were not available at press time.
The Southern Coffey County Titans’ boys and girls return to the hardwood next Friday, when they host Chetopa at 6 p.m.
