COFFEYVILLE — Isaiah Grover played the Coffeyville Country Club course perfectly Wednesday.
The Iola Middle School eighth-grader was more than perfect for nine holes. Grover shot one under par, 35, to win the Roosevelt Middle School golf tournament.
“His excellent performance on the greens helped him earn the first-place medal,” said Stacey Crusinbery, IMS golf coach.
Grover led the Ponies to another tournament championship. The IMS golf team won by 30 strokes with a 152. Coffeyville-Roosevelt combined for a 182 for second and Chanute-Royster was third with a 188.
Iola took the top five medals at the tournament. Matt Jacobs won a scorecard playoff with teammate Kaden Macha for second. Both shot 38s.
Shane Walden posted a 41 for fourth. Adam Peterson carded a 42, winning a scorecard playoff for fifth.
