NEODESHA — Humboldt Middle School had a rough go of it Thursday, with a road trip to a strong Neodesha squad.
Mason Gunderman provided a highlight reel 65-yard kick return for a touchdown, while also adding the two-point conversion.
But the rest was all Bluestreaks, who rolled to a 54-8 win.
“We are a fairly young, inexperienced team and are just getting settled in on our roles and responsibilities,” Humboldt coach Matt Jennings said.
There were several highlights, Jennings said, including some nice runs from quarterback Tate Thomas, and catches from Elijah Irby.
“Coach Wyatt Seufert called some great plays that found positive yards throughout the game,” Jennings said.
Jase Russell had a sack, while Jaxon Gunderman added a fumble recovery. Dakota Haigler and Mason Gunderman also had some strong tackles, Jennings said.
Humboldt will host Fredonia at 6 p.m. Thursday for its home-opener.
