The junior varsity Mustang wrestlers took to the mat for the final time this calendar year on Saturday for a tournament in Cherryvale.
Iola came away successful, earning four first-place medals (Casen Barker, Toby Sander, Dylon Reiter and Logan Brown), one second place (CJ Shields) and one third place (Karson McGraw).
The Mustangs will be back in action on Jan. 6 where they’ll compete in the Burlington Invitational.
Below are the results:
95-101 pounds
Toby Sander finished first with a 2-0 record, scoring nine team points.
Round 2 – Sander won by fall over Carl Junction’s Kendyn Bennett.
Round 3 – Sander won by fall over Cherryvale’s Michael Coats.
112-119 pounds
Damiean Dryden finished fourth with an 0-3 record, scoring four team points.
Round 1 – Fredonia’s Eddie Aylor won by fall over Dryden.
Round 2 – Burlington’s Kenny Glenn won by fall over Dryden.
Round 3 – Carl Junction’s Dennis Maggard won by fall over Dryden.
124-134 pounds
CJ Shields finished second with a 1-1 record, scoring four team points.
Round 1 – Shields won by fall over Southeast-Cherokee’s Ramsey Center.
Round 2 – Labette County’s Braxton Edwards won by fall over Shields.
140-144 pounds
Casen Barker finished first with a 2-0 record scoring eight team points.
Round 1 – Barker won by major decision (8-0) over Labette County’s Bryce Ghering.
Round 3 – Barker won by fall over Cherryvale’s Brad Morris.
143-147 pounds
Carson McGraw finished third with a 1-2 record, scoring nine team points.
Round 1 – Ft. Scott’s Jon Daniels won by fall over McGraw.
Round 2 – McGraw won by fall over Cherryvale’s Jacob Karr.
Round 3 – Fredonia’s Payton Crigger won by fall over McGraw.

Dylon Reiter finished first with a 3-0 record, scoring 20 team points.
