FRONTENAC — The Humboldt Lady Cubs suffered a 10-4 loss to the Frontenac Raiders while stepping away from Tri-Valley League play Thursday.
Four consecutive two-run innings sank the Lady Cubs and snapped their four-game win streak.
Junior Jo Ellison took the loss after allowing 10 runs on nine hits and three walks but tallied three strikeouts in her complete-game effort.
After going scoreless in the first two innings, Humboldt senior shortstop Laney Hull put the Lady Cubs on the scoreboard with a two-RBI triple.
Humboldt cut Frontenac’s lead to pair of runs in the fourth inning with an doubles by junior outfielder Carlie Weilert and sophomore outfielder Addisyn Drake, but that was as close to victory as they would get.
Hull’s triple landed her the team lead in RBIs, followed by Drake and Weilert with one each. Weilert tied Drake as Humboldt’s leading hitters as the pair were successful in 2 of 3 at-bats.
With the loss, the Lady Cubs’ record fell to 16-6.
First pitches for Tuesday’s doubleheader at Osage City are 4:30 p.m. for the opener and 6 p.m. for the nightcap.
