MORAN — The Marmaton Valley Wildcats pushed their win streak to six games after demolishing the Pleasanton Blue-Jays, 16-3, on Thursday.

With nine runs in the opening inning, the Wildcats cruised to victory on the arm of senior pitcher Tyler Lord, who tallied seven strikeouts, including his 150th career K.

Trailing 2-0 in the opening frame, freshman shortstop Lane Lord plated his brother Tyler after Pleasanton botched an infield pop-fly. While that score would not count as an RBI, Lane Lord ended the night tied with sophomore outfielder Thomas Allee, senior first baseman Todd Stevenson and senior catcher Garrett Morrison for the team lead in RBIs with two each. Allee tied the game 2-2 with an RBI grounder, then bases-loaded walks gave Marmaton Valley a 5-2 lead.

Still in the first, Lord posted both of his RBIs with a single swing. Another single swing from Morrison added another two runs as MVHS closed out the inning ahead 9-2. Run-scoring singles from Lane Lord and Stevenson, as well as RBI grounders from freshman outfielder Brendon Newman and sophomore third baseman Kaden McVey added five more runs to put Pleasanton out of contention.

Tyler Lord picked up the win while allowing three runs on four hits and six walks. Allee came in for the final strikeout of the contest in a mercy-rule shortened fifth inning. Morrison and Stevenson tied for the team lead in hits with two each.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 10-3 overall, which also matches their Three Rivers League.

They remain in the Three Rivers League Monday, when they head on the road to face Oswego. They host local rival Crest Thursday. First pitches for both doubleheaders are at 4:30 p.m. with a 6 p.m. first pitch tentatively scheduled for both finales.
