High School Golf: Iola Mustangs
The Iola golf team felt the brunt of the windy conditions on Monday at their meet in Coffeyville.
Grant Luedke finished on top with a 105 followed by a 107 for Drake Sell, a 108 for Jeremy Waldman and 116s for Nic Zimmerman and Josh Kaufman.
We still didnt get the scores that we want to put up as a team, but I felt like the boys showed a little more consistency, head coach Nick McAnulty said. We did not have nearly as many blow-up holes that would ruin our scores today. We just had more consistently higher scores which are to be expected on an already tough course made tougher by the high wind gusts.
Luedkes 105 was a season-best and if it werent for one bad hole, he would have improved his score even more.
Waldman and Sell struggled off the tee box and Zimmerman and Kaufman got off to a nice start but faded down the stretch.
The Mustangs have three tournaments next week starting with the Chanute Invitational on Monday.
