MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s boys started out on a high note and never looked back Thursday.
The Wildcats led host Pleasanton, 13-6, after one quarter and 23-9 at halftime. The second half was even more lopsided. Marmaton Valley won, 41-17.
The Wildcat girls A team had a tough start, and a tougher finish.
Pleasanton led 10-2 after one period, before the Wildcats clawed back into the game, courtesy of an 11-2 run that spanned the third quarter. But the Blu-Jays ended the contest with a 17-9 run to win, 37-28.
The evening was a successful one for Marmaton Valley’s other squads. The B team boys prevailed, 37-7, the B team girls won, 28-8, and the C team girls won 16-0 in a one-quarter game.

THE A TEAM boys were paced by a balanced scoring attack. Brock Hall and Trevor Wilson each scored 10 points for the Wildcats. Justice Pugh scored nine and Tristan Fraker and Kiefer Endicott had four apiece. Caiden Elliott and Korbin Smith each had two points.
The boys B team was led by Elliott, who scored 11, and Gage Griffeth and Endicott with eight each. Isaac Heskett scored six and Jordan Thompson four.

TRINITEE Gutierrez scored 14 points for the A team girls. Shayla Brooks followed with seven, Megan Ensminger with three and Isabelle Bigelow and Makayla Brooks with two each.
Paige Becker poured in 18 points to lead the B team girls. Patricia Outlan followed with six, and Shailee Woods and Kaitlyn Knavel had two each.
Outlan drained seven field goals in one quarter for the Wildcat C team, finishing with 14 points. Lana Myers also scored a basket for two points.
Marmaton Valley travels to Oswego Monday, before hosting Crest on Tuesday and traveling to Pleasanton Thursday.
