NEODESHA — Multiple area Tri-Valley and Three Rivers League athletes reached the top of the podium at the Neodesha Invitational Thursday.
While Humboldt more than held its own against the TVL competition, Crest and Yates Center gave their Three Rivers’ competitors a preview of things to come at the TRL championships in Oswego later this month.
The Crest Lancers and Lady Lancers demonstrated their skills in all categories.
Junior Xander Fuller took first in the long jump (18-8), the triple jump (37-9.25) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.23). Junior Hannah Schmidt had a first-place finish in the long jump (15-6.5) and placed second in the 100-meters (12.55).

Crest senior Josie Waler took first in the high jump (5’). Senior Kinley Edgerton took second in the javelin (101-1). Senior Peyton Schmidt took third in the 1600 meters. Sophomore Grady Allen took third in the 1600 meters.
Humboldt also had a handful of top five medalists. Junior Jean Yumba led the way with another first-place finish in the shotput (35-5.5) and third in the discus (95-6).
Senior thrower Carson Peters also had a strong day with a second-place finish in discus (134-9) and Cooper Peters took fourth in the shotput (40-5). Sophomore Willow LaCrone took second in the 200-meter dash, sixth in the 100 meters and fourth in the long jump.
The Yates Center Wildcats did not have a gold medalist, but they did make a statement with several top five placers. Freshman Whitley Schaffer took second in the discus (95-5) and junior Jayda Rice took second in the shotput (33-8).
