Uniontown boys deck Marmaton Valley

BRONSON — Uniontown High’s Eagle boys turned a 7-2 game into a 12-2 runaway victory Tuesday over visiting Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats.
The Eagles got out to a 4-0 lead by the second inning. The Wildcats got on the board in the third on a solo home run by Ethan Ericson.
Marmaton Valley could not take advantage of base runners. The Wildcats had 13 hits in the game but stranded seven in scoring position.
“We need someone to get some key hits for us,” Derek Scharff, MVHS head coach, said.
Anthony Myers was the winning pitcher for the Eagles. He struck out four batters.
Max Labbe doubled for the Eagles. Hitting two singles each were Tyler Hall and Jordan Woods. Ty Clayton, Austin Jefferis, Kyle Mills and Mitchell Newman had one single each.
For the Wildcats, Ericson started on the mound and went five innings. He allowed seven runs, walked two and hit two batters plus struck out eight.
Tanner Lewis pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up five runs and walked one.
Ericson had a single to go with his home run. Cole Becker had a single and a double. Austin Harrison and Taylor Lhiullier each had two base hits.
Hitting a single each were Lewis, Jared Kale, Derrick Carr, Gage Stewart and Nathan Smart.
Marmaton Valley is 0-11 while Uniontown is 5-5.
The teams played a junior varsity game also. It was called at a 5-5 tie because of darkness.
