The Yates Center Wildcats returned home with some hardware at the Oswego Invitational Thursday.
Although the Wildcats did not have enough runners for a team finish, they did have some strong individual performances from Thursday’s race.
On the girls side, eighth-grader Morgen Crumrine finished second overall in the 2-mile run after completing the course in 16:04.23, just a minute off the pace of race champion Sammi Ohmart of Central Junior High School’s 15:07 finish. Freshman Decembyr Garrett placed eighth with a 20:30.29 finish. Eighth-grader Bralyn Brooks took 10th with a time of 26:19.26.
For the boys, freshman Elliot Ard took 15th overall in the boys 5K, completing the course in 21:29.06, followed by sophomore Corbin Schultz, who finished ninth in the men’s 5K in 28:38.97. Sophomore Isaac Stoll barely missed the cut for a top 10 finish in the men’s 5K after taking 12th in 31:21.78. Eighth-grader Gauge Murray took third in the 2-mile race.
The Wildcats hope to improve their times against a bit of local competition Tuesday when they compete in the Humboldt Invitational. Races begin at 3:15 p.m.
