Residents in LaHarpe and Humboldt were without power for several hours following a single-vehicle accident between Iola and Humboldt Thursday morning.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said the driver of a highway transport was northbound on 1100 Street (or Old 169) near Massachusetts Road when the truck’s tires dropped off the side of the asphalt.

“It just sucked the truck down,’ Sheriff Bryan Murphy said.

The transport careened down the ditch, striking a utility pole and coming to rest on its side.

A pair of new vehicles on an attached trailer were overturned in the wreckage.

The driver was unhurt.

Evergy crews were on the scene to repair the damaged pole. The outage was expected to last for several hours, according to the county’s Code Red alert system.
