With just a few weeks left in the regular season, the Humboldt Lady Cubs hope to bounce back from Thursday’s 11-2, 15-0 sweep by Burlington.

The Lady Cubs seemed out-matched while stepping up a class to take on the Pioneer League leading Burlington Wildcats.

Sophomore outfielder Leah Carman accounted for Humboldt’s only RBI of the evening as the Lady Cubs struggled to find their footing.

Sophomore pitcher Jo Ellison took the loss after racking up six strikeouts during her complete-game performance Smith was not far behind Morrison’s mark after hitting in 3 of 4 appearances with three RBIs. Freshman third baseman Thomas Allee also had three RBIs while hitting in 2 of four appearances.

In the finale, Allee took the loss despite tallying five strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings pitched while also walking four batters and allowing two earned runs. He was one of five pitchers taking the mound with junior Tyler Lord tallying three strikeouts while Smith had two.

Smith had a team-leading two RBIs. Allee, junior outfielder Chris Ferguson and sophomore outfielder Brendon Newman, had one each.

With the losses, the Wildcats fell to 6-6 overall and 6-4 in Three Rivers League play. They stay in the TRL Monday, when they host Oswego. First pitch for both games of Monday’s doubleheader are 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
