Oswego downs MVJH teams

MORAN — Visiting Oswego made life tough Monday for Marmaton Valley Junior High’s basketball squads.
The Wildcat boys teams dropped both of their contests, falling 49-31 in A team action and 15-11 in the B team contest.
On the girls’ side, Oswego’s A team won, 29-16, and the B team won, 22-3.
The Wildcat teams play  Thursday at Westphalia.
Oswego jumped to a 22-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Justice Pugh paced the Wildcats with 13 points, followed by Tristan Fraker and Trevor Wilson with six apiece. Kiefer Endicott scored four and Caiden Elliott two.
On the B team, Marmaton Valley’s Isaac Heskett scored four points in two quarters. Trent Vest, Gage Griffith and Elliott had two points apiece. Jordan Thompson scored one.
Oswego’s A team girls squad broke open a tight game by outscoring Marmaton Valley 13-6 in the second quarter and 8-0 in the third to lead 25-12.
Makayla Brooks scored eight points for Marmaton Valley. Shayla Brooks followed with four, while Megan Ensminger and Trinitee Gutierrez each had two.
Shayla Woods scored two points in two quarters for the Wildcat B team. Kaitlyn Knavel scored one.
