Yates Center tops Marmarton Valley

A pair of local rivals did battle but only one Wildcats teamed emerged victories as Yates Center and Marmaton Valley renewed their rivalry last Thursday.

MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s basketball teams had their hands full with visiting Yates Center Middle School Thursday.

Yates Center swept all four contests, defeating Marmaton Valley’s boys 40-15 in the A team game and 27-0 in B team action.

The YC girls prevailed 35-8 in A team play and 17-4 in the B team game.

Daniel Allee scored six points, Zayne Endicott four, Anthony Sand three and Jaren Curl and Asher Stone one apiece for Marmaton Valley boys A team. Kater Westerman poured in 15 points and Bektin Tidd scored 10 for Yates Center, followed by Emmitt McVey and Paxton Petit with five each, Jax Gehrer with four and Tucker Watson with one.

In the B team game, Yates Center’s Remington Hall scored 11, Gehrer followed with six, Derek Jones had four and Jackson Bowen, Ruger Hall and Watson had two apiece.

YATES CENTER’S girls raced to a 16-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back in the A team affair.

Kloie Snavely scored six for Marmaton Valley’s Kloie Snavely scored six pints and Layten Blevins had two.

Kelby Cummings poured in 14 points, followed by Harper Morrison with 12, Ashlynn Steele with nine, Piper Albert two and Addie Clay with one.

Snavely and Kylie Rescoe scored two each for Marmaton Valley’s girls B team. Steele led Yates Center’s B team with five. Albert, Bentlie Kuron, Clay, Paightyn Cullison and Cummings had two apiece.
