Friday crash kills Chanute woman

A single-vehicle lost control south of Humboldt and crashed, killing a passenger. The driver also suffered suspected serious injuries.

A Chanute woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident south of Humboldt Friday morning.

Thalia K. Green, 76, Chanute, was declared dead at the scene after the car she was riding in crashed on the 1150th Street northbound ramp to U.S. 169, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

According to KHP, Lorren L. Green, 80, Chanute, was driving the 2001 Chevy Taho when the vehicle left the roadway to the left and overturned.

Thalia Green was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said. Lorren Green, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center for a suspected serious injury.

The accident was about four miles south of Humboldt.
