Area organizations are teaming up to host a job fair Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Recreation Building in Riverside Park. The event begins at 1 p.m. with exclusive access for military veterans; the general public is welcome from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
The effort is in response to the recent announcement that Iola’s Gates Corp., will lay off 80 employees by the end of the year.
The job fair is spearheaded by Thrive Allen County, the cities of Iola and Humboldt, Allen County, Allen Community College, the Iola Area Chamber and KansasWorks.
More than 50 jobs are expected to be offered by area employers.
Also available are free professional headshots, résumè reviews, LinkedIn profile assistance and workforce support.
Employers who would like to register for the job fair can contact Thrive Allen County’s Dakota McNett at dakota@thriveallencounty.org or visit tinyurl.com/allencountyjobfair. Registration does not guarantee placement; businesses will be accepted on a first-come, first- served basis.
Job-seekers of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and connect with local employers and career resources.
