Cynical political ploys can’t hide the obvious: Our problems run deep

The president's cash offer for us to vote Republican is wrong on so many fronts, not the least of which we would foot the bill

The president’s cash offer for us to vote Republican is wrong on so many fronts, not the least of which we would foot the bill

I admit my naïveté.

When I first heard President Trump say, “I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000” if Republicans retain their Congressional majorities in the Nov. 3 midterm election, I thought he, personally, and maybe some of his friends, would cash in their Bitcoin to fund the payout.

But of course, he was using the universal “I,” such as in everyone but me will write the check.

The fourth generation of her family to publish the Register, Susan has also served as president of the Kansas Press Association and the William Allen White Foundation.
