Allen County crews have closed off a portion of Florida Road at the east of Humboldt after a gusher of stormwater runoff washed away a portion of the road Tuesday morning.

Road and Bridge Director Jeremy Hopkins said the water from nearly 2 inches of rain that fell overnight Monday into Tuesday washed out a slough near 1600 Street.

Hopkins said a replacement pipe has been ordered, to allow sufficient water runoff to pass under the road.
