Allen Community College’s action in the Region VI Basketball Tournament ended quickly for both the Red Devil men and women.
The men fell behind in the first half against host Dodge City and dropped a 93-73 decision.
The Red Devil women did the same in Great Bend at Barton Community College, falling 88-50.
The losses end the season for both squads. The Allen men wound up with a 6-17 mark; the Lady Red Devils wound up 1-22.
In the men’s game, Dodge City racked up 53 first-half points and led by 16 at the break.
Freddie Word paced the Red Devils with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Cedric Rollerson came off the bench to score 17. Tyren Shelley hit three 3-pointers and scored 11. Ed Wright added eight points and five rebounds.
Dodge City’s Dhieu Deing was a mind-boggling 7 of 9 from 3-point range and poured in 34 points.
IN THE women’s contest, Barton jumped out to leads of 20-12 after one quarter and 45-21 at the break to take control.
Adji Mbaye was a force to be reckoned with for Allen, pouring in 22 points. She was the only Red Devil in double figures, however. Chloe Burns added seven. Kiley Biltoft added seven rebounds. Mbaye also led Allen in assists with three and steals with two.
Tiffany Dortland scored 26 and Queen Ulabo 22 for Barton.
