MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls narrowly missed out on a doubleheader sweep Monday.
The Wildcat A team trailed 15-7 after three quarters against visiting Northeast, but stormed back down the stretch.
Alas, the Vikings were able to fend off MV in a 17-14 victory. Kloie Snavely and Layten Blevins scored five points each, while Kimbree Daum added four for the Wildcats.
In B team play, Marmaton Valley relied on a balanced scoring attack with six players scoring points in a 20-13 win.
Zoey Endicott paced Marmaton Valley’s B-teamers with six points. Paisley Plaster was next with five, followed by Ellie Stinnett and Snavely with three apiece. Gaby Tholen scored two and Daum had one.
NORTHEAST prevailed in both of the boys games against Marmaton Valley, winning 32-24 in A team play and 17-8 in the B team contest.
Anthony Sander notched 11 points to lead the Wildcat A team. Jaren Curl added six, Ryler Stone four and Kaiden Woods three.
Case Drake, Asher Stone, Oscar Boom and Lucas Sander each had two points in the B team affair.
MARMATON Valley hosts Yates Center Thursday.
