HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High’s softball team celebrated Senior Night in style Tuesday.

The Lady Cubs wasted little time in dispatching visiting Cherryvale with a pair of 12-2 romps to extend the team’s winning streak to 13 straight games.

Humboldt had plenty of hitting stars in the opener, led by their dynamic duo at the top of the lineup.

Leadoff hitter Kirstyn Murrow rapped out a single, double and triple, while driving in two and scoring twice. Karley Wools, who bats second, blasted a pair of triples, while driving in three and scoring a pair of runs.

But they weren’t alone in piling up the hits.

Madison Riebel had a single and double, while Isabelle Murrow doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. (More on her later).

Carsyn Haviland had a triple and three runs scored with an RBI and two stolen bases.

Emily Ross, Brooklyn Ellis and Laken Hunter all had singles and drove in runs.

Humboldt led 2-0 after one and 8-0 after two in support of starting pitcher Ellis, who limited Cherryvale to four hits with eight strikeouts.

ISABELLE Murrow took center stage in the finale, homering twice and driving in five.

The Lady Cubs scored 10 in the first and never looked back, even after Cherryvale opened the game with a 1-0 lead.

Again, there were plenty of hits to be had.

Wools doubled twice and scored three times with an RBI. Ross singled and doubled, as did Kady Hart. Kirstyn Murrow doubled and scored twice. Ellis and Haviland added singles.

Ellis was even stingier on the mound, allowing just two hits over five innings, with five strikeouts.

The Lady Cubs play a doubleheader Friday at Lebo/Waverly.

to wrap up the regular season.

Postseason play begins May 17.
